“Software made in Freiburg”
WRF visits United Planet
Freiburg, September 11, 2019.
Under the motto “WRF meets… United Planet”, about 60 guests from politics, business, science and law accepted the invitation from Wirtschaftsförderung Region Freiburg (Economic Promotion for the Freiburg Region - WRF) to come to the Freiburg-based software developer, United Planet GmbH, on September 10. The regional economic discussion is an event series organized by WRF e.V. and has provided a look behind the scenes of important companies and institutions from the region since 2004.

Martin W. W. Horn, mayor of the city of Freiburg and at the same time, executive vice-president of WRF e.V., emphasized in his welcome speech that the award-winning United Planet has developed into a market leader in the German-speaking world over the course of its 20-year success story. “As well as its steadily increasing business figures, the innovative software developer with its portal and integration software, ‘Intrexx’, is also an attractive employer for our region and all of South Germany,” Horn continued.
From a start-up to a world market leader
United Planet GmbH has played a substantial role in shaping the subject of “digital transformation” since its founding in 1998. The founding team at that time consisted of eight IT pioneers and started its business in a so-called co-working space in the then administration building of Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co. KG (FWTM).

On its tenth anniversary in autumn 2008, the management and staff were already able to move into the future-oriented new building, the so-called “xpress” building at the Freiburg main train station. Today, United Planet GmbH employs more than 120 staff at its centrally located offices.
The one-time start-up has become an internationally positioned company that is active in 16 countries with more than 100 sales and implementation partners and has already supported more than 5,000 customers in their own digital transformations.
This pioneering spirit and their passion for progress continue to be a key part of the company culture today.
Finger on the pulse of the time
“Even though the market and requirements for low-code development have rapidly developed in recent years, United Planet has stayed true to its philosophy. Then and now, we support companies on their digital transformation journey.” With these words, Katrin Beuthner, CEO of United Planet, ended her presentation.

Afterwards, guests had the opportunity to ask questions and get to know the diverse Intrexx application areas in more detail. With these, companies can set up a central system as a “digital workplace” without having to forego existing systems and data.
After a tour with a “look behind the scenes”, a get-together in a relaxed atmosphere topped off the exciting program of this future-oriented company visit.
